ARTIST STATEMENT
Janet Lee Sellers
"My work is made up of individually
created pieces that assemble together to create a unified whole. Each section is an individual form, each participates
in the whole".
SCULPTURE: My sculptural work
cultivates the power of monolithic impact with human scale and organic forms.
Light on the forms create a play of ever-changing shadow paintings on the textures
and surfaces of both the artwork and its base ground.
Weather elements such as snow, ice, rain,
interact with my artwork and enhance the textural surfaces each day.
PAINTINGS:
My paintings inhabit the canvas or wall and are informed by my need to enter another dimension
of thinking while standing grounded in one place.
We all desire to enter and exit realms of imagination because
we can become fulfilled and refreshed in the blink of an eye.
I feel fortunate to be able to make these explorations visible
in my art.
